Blue Line's airport corridor puts Hennur on Bengaluru's fastest-growing metro map.
Enquire NowHennur, one of North Bangalore's most sought-after residential corridors, is set for a major connectivity upgrade as construction progresses on Namma Metro's Blue Line, popularly known as the airport metro line. This corridor is being built to directly connect commuters to Kempegowda International Airport, and Hennur sits right along this critical stretch.
The Blue Line is being developed in two phases. It consists of two sections - Phase-2A (Central Silk Board to Krishnarajapura) and Phase-2B (Krishnarajapura to Airport). Phase 2B is the section that matters most for Hennur residents. The line passes through the eastern part of Outer Ring Road and passes through many major tech hubs and neighbourhoods of the city, such as HSR Layout, Agara, Bellandur, Kadubeesanahalli, Marathahalli, Doddanekundi, Mahadevapura, Krishnarajapura, Kasturi Nagar, Horamavu, Kalyan Nagar, Hennur, Nagawara, Hebbal and then runs parallely along the National Highway 44.
A key structural advantage for Hennur is its proximity to the Nagawara interchange. Nagawara is an upcoming important underground northern terminal metro station that will be an interchange metro station between Pink Line and Blue Line. This means Hennur residents will not just get airport access but also a direct link into the Pink Line network, opening up cross-city travel without multiple transfers.
On timelines, official targets have moved a few times, and buyers should read the fine print carefully. Phase 2B (17 stations) is targeted for December 2027, pushed back from an earlier June 2027 estimate as civil works at approximately 52.5% completion required additional time. Other trackers point to a similar window: the Blue Line Metro in Bengaluru will open in phases, with the first section Silk Board to KR Puram arriving in September 2026, while the section from Hebbal to Airport is scheduled to open in June 2027.
For context on scale, the full Blue Line will have approximately 30 stations — 13 in Phase 2A (the ORR section, Silk Board to KR Puram) and 17 in Phase 2B (the airport extension, Kasturinagara to KIAL Terminals), with a total length of approximately 58 km. Once operational, when Phase 2B opens, there will be a direct metro connection from the city to KIAL Terminals station at Kempegowda International Airport, with no airport transfer needed.
Real estate observers already see the ripple effect building. The Blue Line Metro in Bangalore is poised to establish a vital connection between the eastern suburbs and the burgeoning IT hubs, promising seamless connectivity that is anticipated to fuel demand for residential real estate ventures in the vicinity. Separately, market analysis on the Hennur Road corridor notes that for buyers on a 5+ year hold, the metro will absolutely materialise inside that window, and the price impact of an operational metro on Hennur Road will be real.
For last-mile access, buyers should set realistic expectations rather than relying purely on marketing language. As one detailed corridor analysis puts it, the realistic metro-station access pattern is 15-20 minutes via auto-rickshaw or feeder vehicle to reach Hennur station, then the metro itself. That's still a significant time saving compared to driving the full distance to the airport or to ORR tech parks during peak hours.
For homebuyers evaluating Hennur today, the practical takeaway is this: the metro is real, funded, and under active construction, but it's a medium-term catalyst rather than an immediate amenity. Projects along Hennur Road — including SOBHA's developments in the micro-market — stand to benefit from both the direct Blue Line station access and the Nagawara interchange, making early entry into this corridor a reasonable long-term bet for both end-users and investors.
