Nagawara Metro Interchange: North Bangalore's Pivotal Hub

The Nagawara station on the Bangalore Metro's Pink Line is 98% complete, with the line expected to be finished by December 2026; this station will serve as an interchange with the Blue Line, connecting south Bengaluru to the airport and Hebbal-Manyata tech belt.

This isn't just another metro station. Nagawara is an upcoming important underground northern terminal metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line and upcoming elevated metro station on the Blue Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. The dual-structure design—underground for the Pink Line, elevated for the Blue Line—creates what will become one of Bangalore's most strategically important transit nodes.

BMRCL deputy chief engineer Vinod M Sasalatti said underground works at Nagawara are at a very advanced stage and that construction across the corridor is progressing steadily. According to officials, structural work for the first two floors of the accompanying commercial complex is already complete, with the remaining two floors expected to be finished within 8–10 months.

BMRCL will build a four-storey commercial complex featuring 23,392.24 sq m of built-up space, along with a 3,225.73 sq m multi-level parking facility adjacent to the station. The upcoming Nagawara station, expected to open in December 2026, is strategically located near major employment hubs, including Embassy Manyata Business Park and Karle Town Centre.

For commuters, the real game-changer is the interchange itself. Once operational, the junction is expected to provide a crucial link for commuters travelling between south Bengaluru and the northern corridor, including the airport and the Hebbal-Manyata tech belt. The interchange is also expected to ease pressure on the heavily congested Outer Ring Road stretch. The interchange is expected to significantly improve connectivity between southern, central, northern and eastern Bengaluru and the airport corridor.

The Blue Line component will follow a year later. This metro station, under the second phase (Pink Line), covering the total distance of 13.8 km stretch (Dairy Circle - Nagawara) is expected to be operational around December 2026 and under the Phase 2B, covering the stretch of 11.35 km (Krishnarajapura - Hebbala) is expected to be operational around December 2027 (under Blue Line). It is also poised to become a key interchange for airport-bound commuters, with an elevated Blue Line station scheduled for completion a year later. The two stations will feature directly connected concourses for the smooth movement of passengers.

For residential and commercial investors, this development signals a pivotal shift. Residential projects in Thanisandra, Manyata Tech Park's surrounding micro-market, HBR Layout, and Hebbal are therefore expected to benefit from improved commuting options for IT employees. The northern stretch covering Shivajinagar, Pottery Town, Cantonment, Nagawara, and nearby Thanisandra is particularly significant. Nagawara will become an interchange with the Blue Line, creating one of the city's key multimodal nodes. This is the infrastructure that reshapes property values and commuting reality.
